PBC Rollout at Game Developer's Conference
The Patton Block Center will be presented to the computer game development community at the Game Developers Conference 2001, which runs from March 20-24 at the San Jose Conference Center in San Jose, California. The Patton Block Center (PBC) will be attending along with the City of Monmouth, Illinois and the City of Macomb, Illinois.
"I'm really excited about this chance to show the game development industry, especially smaller studios operating on tight budgets, that West Central Illinois is a great place from which to craft games," said Paul Schuytema, Director of the PBC. "And I'm glad the Cities of Monmouth and Macomb are going to be there with me. Their presence alone means a lot. Ventures in other places just don't get that kind of local support."
The PBC, along with the Cities of Macomb and Monmouth will be in Booth 2007 at the Game Developers Conference Expo. They plan to add excitement to the event by giving away gifts every few hours, including classic role-playing and board games from the past and two complete Commodore 64 computer systems. "Everything for your retro gaming needs," quipped Schuytema.
The goal of the PBC is to foster the growth of a professional community in Monmouth focused on software development for the computer entertainment industry. In order to achieve this goal, the PBC will offer fully renovated office suites, core business services, high-speed Internet access, industry representation and venture capital on a per-project basis.
